REALLY want to get a new WP up for this site. Perhaps time for a decent redesign too, though […]

Dayton Here We Come!

May 16th, 2008

We’re on the road now!
I got about 2 hours of good sleep and a good shot of coffee.
For the streaming video initiative, I’ll be using the free service at UStream (http://www.ustream.tv). For right now you’ll have to go to the page separately since they don’t immediately give out developer API keys. You can go there […]

All Around Update

April 15th, 2008

Time to update all the strings of this rope…
Phusion Passenger (mod_rails)
I installed the gem and went ahead to install the apache module but their setup script will not find my Apache2 installation. This is on Ubuntu 7.10 and my binary is called apache2 rather than httpd, though I’m not sure if this is the direct […]

New MacBook Pro

March 28th, 2008

So I just got my new work computer, a 15″ MacBook Pro. This is my very first experience with a Mac, at least one that I can play with and use on a daily basis.
Aside from getting used to the interface changes and the Apple key, things are going well.
So far I’ve installed Adium and […]

The Wall Street Journal’s Buzzwatch has profiled my friend Gabe Ortiz and his Stupid Filter project.
Check it out here.

Total Lunar Eclipse

February 20th, 2008

Tonight starting at around 8:45PM we’ll be able to see another total lunar eclipse. If you’re in my area, SE Michigan, you’ll want to look towards the east-southeast. The whole show should be over and done with just after midnight and won’t happen again until 2010.
Unfortunately for me, I do not have a good view […]

NewJS = Ruby + Javascript = Jails?

February 15th, 2008

Dr. Nic Williams has created a new Javascript project generator that works with Ruby to help with test-driven development (TDD) of new JS libraries, NewJS.
Personally, I would have called it Jails, but that’s just the bandwagon side of my brain talking. I only say this due to its close usage of Rails methods, such as […]

Jaxer: JavaScript on the Server Side

January 30th, 2008

So last night I got to play with Jaxer from Aptana for the first time. Here’s my initial thoughts…
Apache Module:
So right now it only works for Windows and Mac. I tried for about 90 minutes to compile and/or get it all working on my Ubuntu box without any success. I did however get everything ready […]

Boller! The New COBOL WebFrame

January 23rd, 2008

Well, not really, but it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s one on the way for Fortran too.
Daniel Spiewak over at Code Commit talks about the end of the ruby fad and the attitudes of those fueling the fire, or running out of the burning house.
While I agree there’s a fad, I think it’s more to […]
